GRANDMA G QUILTS
My grandmother taught me how to piece quilt blocks by hand when I was a child. She handmade many quilts for friends and family and I have several that I treasure. I didn’t start actually making quilts until I retired from a long career in education but I did teach my second graders how to piece quilt blocks when we studied America’s history. They loved it! I started making quilts for my grandchildren and nieces and nephews. I soon expanded to baby quilts and now make quilts for all ages. Friends and family receive quilts for Christmas and special occasions as well as when I find just the right fabric for them. I also donate quilts frequently to causes I care about.
I use some patterns from quilt magazines but mostly design my own. I may use the same pattern and fabrics but each quilt is unique. I also make quilted wall hangings, table runners, and quilted journals. I established Grandma G Quilts in 2016 and opened my Etsy shop in 2020. I have a booth in many craft shows in Central Texas – mostly indoors in fall and winter. Folks don’t often buy quilts in the hot summer months but quilts are great for picnics, at the beach, and to snuggle anytime! They make great gifts for many occasions. I have sent quilts to 29 states as well as France, Germany and Japan. My sister and I also make custom T-shirt quilts and memory quilts from clothes of loved ones. Come see us at these shows.
